The Headmaster of St. Augustine’s College in Cape Coast, Rev. Father Godfred Appiah, has addressed recent reports alleging a food shortage at the school, assuring all stakeholders that the institution has adequate food supplies to cater to its students. In a letter dated November 23, 2024, he refuted the claims, describing them as baseless and unfounded.
Rev. Father Appiah provided detailed evidence to support his assurance, stating that the school received multiple food deliveries from the National Buffer Stock Company on November 4, 9, 13, 19, and 21. These consistent deliveries, he explained, have ensured a well-stocked warehouse, enabling the smooth and uninterrupted operation of the school’s kitchen.
He commended the commitment and resilience of the kitchen staff, who continued preparing meals for students even during the recent industrial action by members of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU). Despite the challenges posed by the strike, the staff’s dedication ensured that students were well-fed, reflecting the institution’s unwavering commitment to their welfare.
Rev. Father Appiah also expressed disappointment over the circulation of misinformation, emphasizing that such reports could undermine confidence in the school’s management. He reassured parents and stakeholders that the school’s primary focus remains the well-being of its students, and every effort is being made to provide a conducive learning and living environment.
To address lingering doubts, he extended an open invitation to parents, guardians, and journalists to visit the school and verify the food situation firsthand. “We are committed to transparency and encourage anyone with concerns to engage with us directly,” he stated. This open-door policy, he explained, demonstrates the institution’s confidence in its effective resource management and high standards of care for students.
The headmaster’s prompt and detailed response aims to restore trust and confidence among parents, guardians, and the broader school community. By addressing the reports directly and providing verifiable evidence, Rev. Father Appiah has demonstrated proactive leadership in safeguarding the reputation of St. Augustine’s College.
Renowned for its academic excellence and discipline, the school continues to prioritize the needs of its students. The headmaster’s assurance and acknowledgment of the staff’s efforts highlight the institution’s dedication to maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring the welfare of all students, even amidst challenges.
