Mahama Promises to Enhance Trade and Business Gro

Former President John Dramani Mahama has promised to increase trade and business development in Ghana's Ashanti Region if elected during the forthcoming general elections. The former President, while addressing hundreds of his supporters during a rally in Kumasi, outlined an elaborate plan to transform the economy of the region by making the environment conducive for businesses to thrive.

The Ashanti Region, as it is often referred to, has been the commercial hub of the country for a long time. However, Mahama said the region faces a number of challenges that make it difficult to realize its full potential. These include inadequate infrastructure, limited access to credit, and the high cost of doing business. He promised to tackle these issues head-on with targeted interventions aimed at transforming the region into a leading business destination.

Infrastructure development, road networks will be pursued vigorously, and businesses will have easy access to capital under my administration," Mahama said. He also stated that his administration would engage with the private sector in order to provide job opportunities to young people through the stimulation of SMEs and industrial parks.

In his address, Mahama underscored that his government was working at increasing access to markets for local producers, particularly those in agriculture and manufacturing. In so doing, he said, the value chains will be strengthened, hence positioning local businesses in a better place to tap into both regional and international markets. He also spoke about the potential for the Ashanti Region to become a major hub for export-driven industries, leveraging its strategic location and rich resource base.

In addition, Mahama made further assurances that, under his rule, there would be a stable and friendly environment for businesses, through regulatory reforms coupled with a reduction of bureaucratic red tape, which too often stifles entrepreneurship. He promised to introduce an efficient system of business registration and licensing to ensure it becomes easier to establish businesses and for their growth.

The audience welcomed the former president's utterances with hopeful comments from many of the residents in terms of expected economic development for the region. As the elections get closer, the promises made by Mahama have been taken as the necessary beginning in addressing major issues confronting the Ashanti Region and enjoining its people toward new paths of unlocking their economic potentials.

With the Ashanti Region serving as a key battleground in the upcoming polls, Mahama’s pledge to enhance trade and business growth is likely to resonate with voters seeking solutions to unemployment and economic hardships.
