Bullgod wasn’t in Ghana when I wanted to pay him GH₵100,000 legal settlement – Shatta Wale

Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has addressed the ongoing legal battle with his former manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod. Speaking in an exclusive interview with NY DJ on BTM Afrika, the "Already" hitmaker shed light on the circumstances surrounding the lawsuit and an out-of-court settlement agreement between the two.

In late 2022, Bullgod filed a defamation lawsuit against Shatta Wale following allegations the artist made, including threats to expose supposed secrets about the death of the late artist's manager, Fennec Okyere. By March 2023, both parties had agreed to resolve the matter out of court, with Shatta Wale promising to pay GHC100,000 as a legal settlement. This agreement was disclosed in court by Bullgod’s lawyer, Justice Srem Sai.

However, the payment remains outstanding. When asked why the settlement had not been fulfilled, Shatta Wale explained that Bullgod was unavailable when his team was ready to make the payment. He implied that Bullgod’s decision to revisit the courts stems from a personal motive rather than any new grievance.

“There’s no different cause of action. Bullgod just wants to take his money,” Shatta Wale stated. He also joked about Bullgod’s proximity to a courthouse, suggesting it might be a reason for his eagerness to litigate. “You see Bullgod, if this is the house, this is the court, so he wakes up and goes to the court anytime. When a chicken clucks, he goes to court. When a taxi driver toots the horn, he goes to court because his house is just close to the court.”

The artist’s comments have reignited public interest in the feud, which began with serious accusations during their fallout. While Shatta Wale acknowledged the settlement agreement, his remarks suggest skepticism over Bullgod’s intentions.

The situation highlights the challenges of resolving disputes in the entertainment industry, particularly when personal and professional relationships intertwine. Despite the legal wrangling, fans and industry stakeholders hope for a resolution that avoids prolonged conflict.

For now, Shatta Wale has reiterated his willingness to honor the agreed payment, provided logistical issues are resolved. Whether the matter returns to court or concludes amicably remains to be seen.
