400-Level Student Abducted In Kogi, Dumped Naked Across State Lines In Kwara — NSCDC

A harrowing incident unfolded recently, as a 400-level university student was kidnapped in Kogi State and later found abandoned, naked, in Kwara State. This troubling case has been confirmed by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), shedding light on a growing security challenge in the region.

The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was reportedly abducted by unknown assailants under circumstances that are still under investigation. The ordeal began in Kogi State, a region that has faced increasing reports of insecurity, ranging from kidnappings to armed robberies. The assailants transported the student across state borders, leaving her exposed and vulnerable in Kwara State before fleeing the scene.

Authorities were alerted when the victim was discovered by local residents, who immediately contacted law enforcement. The NSCDC has since launched an investigation into the matter, working in collaboration with other security agencies to track down the perpetrators and understand their motives. Preliminary findings suggest that the crime may have been opportunistic, but investigators have not ruled out the possibility of a targeted attack.

The NSCDC has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens, particularly students who remain vulnerable to such threats. The agency has also called on the public to provide any information that could assist in apprehending the culprits, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance in combating crime.

This incident has sparked widespread concern among residents and advocacy groups, many of whom have demanded more proactive measures to address the persistent insecurity in the region. Parents and guardians have expressed fears for the safety of their children in tertiary institutions, urging government authorities to implement policies that will protect students both on and off campus.

The victim is reportedly receiving medical attention and counseling to help her recover from the traumatic experience. The NSCDC and local authorities have assured the public that they will do everything within their power to bring the perpetrators to justice. However, this incident serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need for improved security infrastructure and a collaborative effort to address the root causes of criminal activities in Nigeria.

As investigations continue, the public remains hopeful that this case will serve as a turning point in the fight against insecurity, ensuring that students and other vulnerable groups can live without fear of abduction or violence.
