Nkoranza M/A "A" Junior High School (JHS) (Old Jusec) in Nkoranza, in the Bono East Region, has rolled out activities to mark its 50th anniversary celebration.
The launching of the anniversary was on the theme: “Celebrating 50 years of excellence in education; The role of stakeholders.”
The anniversary was launched on Friday, May 30, 2025, with members of various year groups, including 1978, 1985, 1986, 1991, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, in attendance to grace the occasion and teamed up to help renovate the school.
The event was aimed at renovating the school's old building, constructing a seven-seater toilet facility and a dressing room for the adolescent girls, and a computer laboratory for the school.
Afena Yaw Emmanuel, the headmaster of the Nkoranza M/A. "A" JHS emphasized the importance of the old students supporting the school's efforts to enhance effective teaching and learning.
The headmaster pledged to maintain the school’s academic standards and conducive environment for the teachers and students.
The headmaster highlighted challenges facing the school, including poor infrastructure, congested classrooms, and lack of toilet facilities.
"I met so many challenges in the school as a headmaster, some of the challenges include bad state of the infrastructure, the roofing, and the classrooms are congested for the students due to increasing in numbers, lack of toilet facility, so we needed to do some renovations to abate the challenges", Afena Yaw bemoaned.
He added that the school has educated so many people in academia and has bettered their lives, therefore urged old students to continue supporting the school and pledged to maintain academic standards and a conducive environment.
"Our young girls are growing, we need to find a dressing room for them when they want to dress up during their menstrual season", Afena Yaw added.
He finally urged the old students to always make sure to give a helping hand to the school when the need arises.
Daniel Opoku (Senior Opo), a 1998 batch student on behalf of the old students, at the event called on all the various year groups to team up and help renovate the school.
He said it is important for the old students to compliment the teacher's efforts and help to enhance effective teaching and learning for their Alma Mater.
Nkoranza M/A "A" JHS, was established in 9th September, 1978, to help educate wards for better future.
