Manchester United could face a tough fight to keep hold of Diogo Dalot as both Real Madrid and Barcelona reportedly eye the defender.
The Portugal international, who signed a contract extension until 2028 just last year, has become a key figure for the Red Devils.
Dalot was named United's Players' Player of the Year last season and continues to impress, with 21 appearances in all competitions this term. He has for now maintained his place in the side despite a switch to a 3-4-3 system under new head coach Ruben Amorim, highlighting his versatility.
Barcelona join Real Madrid in race to sign Diogo Dalot
Real Madrid are said to have identified Dalot as an alternative to Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose future at Anfield remains uncertain.
However, it appears Barcelona are now ready to challenge their rivals for the 25-year-old's signature.
According to CaughtOffside, Barca's sporting director Deco is a big admirer of Dalot and sees his compatriot as a long-term solution for their right-back position.
United value Dalot highly. Madrid are reportedly prepared to offer a basic fee of £41 million ($52m), but the Premier League club would likely demand more for one of their most consistent performers.
With Jules Kounde playing out of position at Barcelona and Real Madrid searching for a long-term replacement for the injured Dani Carvajal, the interest in Dalot from both Spanish sides would certainly make sense.
Should Man United sell Dalot?
Despite Dalot's reliability, his future at Old Trafford isn't guaranteed. United could opt to explore new options for their defensive set-up under Amorim, with Amad Diallo emerging as a preferred choice for right wing-back, leaving Dalot to compete for the left-sided position.
A big-money move to Spain could benefit all parties, especially if Dalot wants to seek a fresh challenge with one of Europe's top clubs and United wish for more transfer funds to invest in Amorim's preferred targets.
