Akufo-Addo Unveils AstroTurf Pitch in Awutu Senya West
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially unveiled a state-of-the-art AstroTurf sports pitch, complete with ancillary facilities, in the Awutu Senya West Constituency, Central Region. This new sports facility is the latest in a series of developmental projects aimed at improving infrastructure and fostering community engagement within the constituency.
The inauguration took place on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, with President Akufo-Addo highlighting the importance of the project for both sports and community development. "On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, I commissioned a state-of-the-art AstroTurf sports pitch with ancillary facilities in the Awutu Senya West Constituency of the Central Region," he shared in a Facebook post following the ceremony.
This AstroTurf pitch forms part of a broader initiative to enhance the constituency's infrastructure, which also includes significant road improvements, water projects, and the construction of a new wharf. These projects are designed to boost economic activities, improve residents' quality of life, and promote community growth. The roads being developed, such as the Bawjiase-Adeiso road, the Akoti Junction to Senya Beraku road, and the Bawjiase to Swedru road, are key to improving connectivity in the region.
In his remarks, the President emphasized that these developments align with the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and creating opportunities for the people of Awutu Senya West. "The magnificent new edifice is the latest in a string of developmental projects strewn across the constituency," he added, outlining other ongoing projects like the Bawjiase to Kasoa road.
After the commissioning in Awutu Senya West, President Akufo-Addo continued his tour by traveling to Kasoa in the Greater Accra Region. There, he engaged with local leaders, including chiefs, religious figures, and traders, to discuss community issues and opportunities for further development. This was part of a broader tour of the Greater Accra Region, which also included a meeting with organized labor and professional groups.
