Pastor Love Relaxes in Car After Jail Release
Pastor Hammond Love, popularly known as Pastor Love, has been spotted in a trending video enjoying a ride in a moving car while vibing to King Paluta’s song. The video surfaced online shortly after the controversial preacher was released from the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.
Pastor Love's release comes after being granted bail by the Accra High Court on November 16th, 2024. This follows his appeal against a 48-month prison sentence handed down by the Circuit Court in Accra. He had been convicted on October 1st, 2024, for the theft of a 2013 Toyota Highlander, imported into Ghana in 2016.
The High Court set bail at GHC2 million and required two sureties. The sureties must demonstrate ownership of properties within the jurisdiction of Accra. Additionally, Justice Naa Koowa Quarshie, who presided over the case, instructed Pastor Love to surrender his passport to the court registry. The directive ensures that his passport remains valid until at least November 15th, 2025, restricting his ability to travel internationally during this period.
The terms of his bail also require Pastor Love to report to the police every Tuesday while his appeal process continues. These conditions are part of measures to ensure his compliance with the court’s directives and continued availability for legal proceedings.
The pastor’s conviction stemmed from allegations of theft involving a vehicle. The Circuit Court found sufficient evidence to convict him, leading to a four-year sentence. However, Pastor Love’s legal team filed an appeal, arguing for a review of the decision, which eventually led to the High Court granting him temporary freedom pending further legal deliberations.
The viral video of Pastor Love chilling in a car has sparked mixed reactions online. While some social media users have expressed support for him and celebrated his release, others remain critical of the circumstances surrounding his conviction and subsequent bail.
As the case unfolds, Pastor Love remains a figure of public interest, both for his controversial legal troubles and his prominent role in the religious community. For now, he enjoys temporary freedom, though under stringent court-imposed conditions.
