James Kumbeni, an advocate for clean renewable energy, has been actively involved in cycling for several years. As he prepares for a major journey outside the country, this marks his first international expedition. At the beginning of this year, he gained attention for himself when he rode 815 kilometres from Bolgatanga to Accra to raise awareness about climate change. His long ride was part of a campaign to promote clean air in Ghana by encouraging cycling as a sustainable and practical alternative mode of transport.
In an interview with Pulse.com.gh in April, James Kumbeni shared that the driving force behind his cycling expeditions was to inspire social change and make a difference in the world. Evident shows how committed he is to this cause and continues using his cycling ventures as platforms for advocacy.
James Kumbeni has now set his sights on an even more ambitious goal whereby he is taking a cycling journey from Ghana to Morocco. Even though he has not come out with the date to begin his journey, he is in the process of planning the trip with his team. In an exclusive interview with Pulse.com.gh, Kumbeni expressed his determination to make the journey a reality and hopes to cross borders with his message of promoting clean energy and sustainability.
To make this expedition successful, Kumbeni has appealed to both the public and corporate sponsors for support. He believes that such collaborations are essential for the realization of his vision.
James Kumbeni led a 23-kilometer ride with fellow cyclists in Zebilla, located in the Upper East Region of Ghana in August, that is earlier this year. The event was to promote peace amidst ethnic tensions in the region. Due to that reason, the cyclists stopped at various communities to engage residents on the importance of peace and unity during the ride.
