Otumfuo Blesses Bawumia and NAPO Ahead of Saturday's Election

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has extended his blessings and best wishes to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his running mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, as Ghana prepares for its presidential and parliamentary elections. Dr. Bawumia visited the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday to express his gratitude to the Asantehene for his "wise counsel and encouragement" throughout his campaign, which officially concluded that day.

In his address, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II recalled Dr. Bawumia’s earlier visit to seek his blessings before embarking on his campaign. He commended the Vice President for his respectful and issue-focused approach to campaigning, noting that Dr. Bawumia had adhered to his promise of presenting the NPP’s achievements and his vision for the future of Ghana.

"I’m happy that you’ve done exactly what you assured me you would do. You’ve successfully completed your campaign in all 275 constituencies. The rest is in the hands of God," the Asantehene remarked, praising the campaign's decency and focus on national issues rather than personal attacks.

As the country nears the election, Otumfuo reaffirmed his prayers for Dr. Bawumia and urged him to place his faith in God. "My son, remain faithful in God because it is God who installs kings," Otumfuo said, emphasizing that Dr. Bawumia had fulfilled his part in presenting his agenda to the electorate. "I have already blessed you. As you are here, I will bless you again. I urge you to place your affairs in the hands of God for God’s power to manifest," he added.

The Asantehene also advised Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Opoku Prempeh to maintain their unity and continued cooperation as they move forward in the election process. "I want to advise you and your running mate that you should continue to work together and stay united," Otumfuo said. He concluded his remarks by praying for divine support for both candidates, asking that God and their ancestors remain behind them to ensure the success of their endeavors.

These blessings come as Dr. Bawumia wraps up a nationwide campaign in preparation for what is expected to be a tightly contested election. Otumfuo's words of encouragement and unity are seen as a crucial moment in the campaign, offering a strong foundation as the election approaches.
