Spotify Wrapped 2024 highlights Ghana’s vibrant and diverse music scene, showing the country’s deep connection to both local and global sounds. Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, emphasizes that Ghanaians are not just music consumers but also creators who are fostering Africa's growing music scene. Ghanaians are constantly expanding their musical taste, embracing diverse sounds, and building a deeper appreciation for music, she says.

Leading the charge is Black Sherif, known as Killa Blacko, who has emerged as the most streamed artist in Ghana for the second year in a row. His album The Villain I Never Was has topped the charts, with his track Oil In My Head among the most-streamed Ghanaian songs of the past year. His unique style of storytelling, combined with catchy beats, resonates deeply with fans, making him an anthem for a new generation.

The love for music in Ghana extends beyond homegrown talent, blending local rhythms with international sounds. The country’s music culture thrives through festivals such as AfroFuture, Tidal Rave, AfroNation, and Asabako. While artists like Sarkodie and Kweku Smoke remain popular, global stars such as Nigeria’s Asake and Burna Boy also feature prominently in Ghana’s musical landscape.

The most streamed song in Ghana is Wotowoto by Odumodublvck and Black Sherif. Other popular tracks include Asylum by Olivetheboy, Puul by Lasmid, Lomo Lomo by KiDi, and Aseda by King Paluta. Ghana also shows strong support for female artists, with Ayra Starr, Tems, and SZA among the most streamed, while Gyakie leads the charge for Ghanaian female artists.

Ghana’s dedication to local music is evident, with 93% of streams dedicated to homegrown artists. Accra, Kumasi, and Wa are the top cities driving the country’s music scene. Emerging talents like Kweku Smoke, Lasmid, and Beeztrap KOTM are also making their mark, with their fresh sounds contributing to the country’s evolving music industry.

Spotify Wrapped 2024 not only reflects Ghana’s rich musical heritage but also its embrace of global influences. The platform offers a personalized experience for users, who can access their Wrapped exclusively through the Spotify mobile app and share their results on social media platforms, including TikTok. This integration underscores the power of music to connect people across cultures.
