Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has passionately appealed to Ghanaians to rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the December 7 elections. Kufuor described Dr. Bawumia as the leader best equipped to guide Ghana into an era of transformative growth, urging the nation’s youth to make a choice that will positively impact their future.

Speaking at the NPP’s final rally at the University of Ghana Sports Park on December 5, Kufuor painted a hopeful picture of Ghana’s future under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership. He commended the Vice President’s understanding of modern governance and his vision to leverage digitalization to unlock economic growth and development.

“The future is in your hands,” Kufuor emphasized. “You have to make the right decision to choose your leader. So on Saturday, you vote for Dr. Bawumia, and you will see how Ghana will move ahead.” His words resonated with the massive crowd that had gathered to show their unwavering support for the NPP’s campaign.

Kufuor urged unity among party members, calling on them to reconcile any differences and rally behind the party’s flagbearer. He emphasized that unity was crucial not only for the success of the party but also for the nation’s progress. “It’s only the NPP that can move Ghana ahead,” he stated confidently.

Highlighting the achievements of the NPP in past administrations, Kufuor noted that the party has consistently demonstrated its commitment to development and good governance. “All over Ghana, we’re the preferred party, because in the few opportunities we have had, we have used the principles our forefathers taught us,” he remarked.

The former president praised Dr. Bawumia’s innovative approach to governance, particularly his efforts in digitalization. Under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership as Vice President, Ghana has seen significant advancements in digital infrastructure, including the introduction of the Ghana Card, mobile money interoperability, and the digitization of government services.

Kufuor highlighted how these initiatives have not only improved efficiency but also positioned Ghana as a leader in digital transformation within Africa. He urged voters to consider the long-term benefits of these achievements when casting their ballots.

“Youth of Ghana, this is your time to take a stand for your future,” Kufuor declared. He stressed the importance of electing a leader who understands the challenges of the modern world and is prepared to address them with innovative solutions. For Kufuor, Dr. Bawumia embodies these qualities and more.

The rally, which marked the culmination of weeks of intense campaigning, saw thousands of NPP supporters gather in a show of solidarity and determination. The atmosphere was electric, with enthusiastic chants and cheers filling the air as party leaders took turns addressing the crowd.

Throughout the campaign, Dr. Bawumia has been positioned as the candidate of choice for voters seeking a forward-thinking leader. His track record as Vice President and his vision for the future have resonated with many, particularly young voters who see him as a champion of progress.

Kufuor’s endorsement added significant weight to the NPP’s campaign message, reinforcing the notion that Dr. Bawumia is the candidate best suited to lead Ghana into a new era of prosperity. His remarks were met with loud applause and cheers from the audience, many of whom expressed confidence in the NPP’s ability to win the upcoming election.

As the election date approaches, the stakes could not be higher. Ghanaians are faced with a critical choice that will shape the nation’s future for years to come. For the NPP, the message is clear: a vote for Dr. Bawumia is a vote for progress, innovation, and unity.

The rally ended on a high note, with supporters singing, dancing, and pledging their commitment to the party’s vision. Kufuor’s powerful speech served as a rallying cry for voters to turn out in large numbers on December 7 and make their voices heard.

For many, the former president’s words were a reminder of the NPP’s legacy of leadership and a call to action to ensure that legacy continues under Dr. Bawumia’s guidance. The nation waits with bated breath as the countdown to Election Day continues, with the future of Ghana hanging in the balance.
