Paradise smiled on Phyllis
Nana was an integral part of Fijai’s volleyball team and a member of T-Menson House, the same house I belonged to. Back in school, I admired him deeply for his intelligence, confidence, and smartness. He was not only a star on the volleyball court but also one of the brightest students in the school.
After I graduated in 2014,I received a friend request from Nana on Facebook, which I happily accepted. Our friendship began to grow from there. When I got admitted to the University of Cape Coast (UCC), I discovered that Nana was in his final year there. That was when he truly became my mentor and support system.
Nana never took my academics lightly. He would create detailed timetables for me and ensure I followed them diligently. He had a simple but effective mantra: "If you spend four hours rehearsing, you must spend four hours studying." He backed his words with actions, constantly motivating me with ice cream treats, books, and endless stories that made studying bearable. Whenever my CGPA improved, he was my biggest cheerleader, celebrating every milestone with me.
Over the years, our friendship deepened. Nana exemplified patience, faith, and kindness, becoming a constant source of guidance and encouragement. For eight years, he stood by me, respecting our bond and waiting on the Lord. Then, one day, he asked the question that would change our lives forever, and I finally said “Yes!”
Today, I look back on our journey with immense gratitude. Nana is more than just my husband—he is my mentor, my confidant, and my biggest inspiration. From our days in Fijai to UCC, and now as life partners, his unwavering faith and support have shaped me into the person I am today. This is us, a testament to love, friendship, and God’s perfect timing.
