Davido: "If It Wasn't Chioma, I Wouldn't Have Gotten Married
Nigerian music star Davido, whose full name is David Adeleke, recently revealed that his wife, Chioma, was the driving force behind his decision to get married. In an appearance on The Morning Hustle podcast, Davido opened up about his relationship with Chioma and the significance of their marriage.
Describing their wedding day as the happiest moment of his life, the award-winning artist reflected on their 13-year relationship, expressing deep gratitude for Chioma's unwavering support throughout the years. He credited her presence in his life as a major influence on both his personal and professional growth.
In his conversation, Davido said, “Without Chioma, I wouldn’t have gotten married. There’s no point.” When asked about their journey together, he explained, “She has been my girl for like 12, 13 years.” He also shared that Chioma was with him during the early stages of his career when he was earning significantly less.
“I was famous, but I wasn’t big, I was kind of okay. Now I’m making like 5 to 6 hundred thousand dollars for a show on a good day. I’m making more,” Davido said, highlighting how far he has come in his career. “She was with me when I was making 2 thousand dollars. She is my friend.”
Their relationship has endured the test of time, with Chioma standing by Davido even before he became the global superstar he is today. The couple tied the knot in a lavish wedding ceremony in Lagos on June 25, 2024, solidifying their bond and commitment to each other.
Davido's heartfelt words reflect not only his deep affection for Chioma but also his acknowledgment of her significant role in his success. Their long-standing relationship, marked by support and mutual respect, ultimately led to their decision to get married, a decision that Davido says he wouldn't have made without Chioma by his side.
