Prince David Osei calls Mahama's presidential bid "greediness"
Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has openly criticized former President John Dramani Mahama for seeking to become president again, calling it “greediness.” The actor expressed his frustration with Mahama’s repeated bids for the highest office in Ghana, despite having held various key political positions over the years.
In a post on X, Prince David Osei listed Mahama’s long political career, which includes roles such as Member of Parliament for 12 years, Deputy Minister for 4 years, Minister for 4 years, Vice President for 4 years, and President for 4 years. He also pointed out that Mahama has already served as a former president for 8 years. Despite all these leadership roles, Osei questioned why Mahama is still pursuing the presidency again, labeling it as “greediness” that should not be encouraged among African leaders.
Prince David Osei, a strong supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), used the opportunity to rally behind Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate. Osei urged Ghanaians to vote for a “new person” and showed his firm backing for Dr. Bawumia as the candidate for change. “Let’s all vote for a new person, let’s vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia #1,” he wrote on his social media post.
The actor’s remarks come ahead of Ghana's general elections on December 7, 2024. Prince David Osei is one of several prominent showbiz personalities who have publicly supported Dr. Bawumia, expressing confidence in his leadership and vision for the country. Osei has been vocal about his belief that the NPP has the best policies to address Ghana’s challenges and promote national development.
As the political landscape heats up ahead of the elections, Prince David Osei’s comments reflect the growing debate in Ghana over the future leadership of the country. While Mahama remains a formidable figure in Ghanaian politics, the actor’s criticism underscores the divide between supporters of the two major political parties, with many, including Osei, advocating for a fresh approach to governance through Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy.
