Nick Cannon says he’s seeking help for narcissistic personality disorder

Nick Cannon has opened up about his recent diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), candidly admitting, I need help. The Masked Singer host revealed the diagnosis during a podcast appearance earlier this month, marking a pivotal moment in his journey toward self-awareness and personal growth.

Speaking to People, Cannon shared how he is coming to terms with the diagnosis and using it as an opportunity to better understand himself and improve his relationships. I still don’t understand it all the way, but I kind of always wanted to get tested for it, he said. His openness about seeking clarity on the condition highlights his commitment to addressing the challenges that come with NPD.

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental health condition characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, and a lack of empathy for others. Despite the stigma often associated with the diagnosis, Cannon views it as a stepping stone toward self-improvement rather than a label to shy away from.

I’ve always been aware of how my actions impact others, but this diagnosis puts things in perspective, Cannon explained. It’s a wake-up call to be more intentional about my behavior and to work on being the best version of myself for my family, friends, and those I interact with.

Cannon has faced significant public scrutiny over the years, particularly surrounding his personal life, including his multiple relationships and large family. However, his willingness to confront his mental health challenges demonstrates a new level of vulnerability and accountability.

The entertainer also acknowledged that the diagnosis has been both enlightening and challenging. It’s not easy to hear something like this about yourself, but I’m taking it one day at a time, he said. “I’m learning to accept it, own it, and use it as a tool for growth.

Cannon’s revelation has sparked conversations about the importance of mental health awareness and the need to address personality disorders without judgment. His decision to share his journey publicly serves as an example of how embracing a diagnosis can lead to self-discovery and healing.

As he continues to learn more about himself, Cannon’s candidness offers encouragement to others facing similar challenges, showing that seeking help and working toward understanding can lead to positive change.
