Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation Limited (BOST) has donated over 11,000 exercise books and supplementary reading materials to six schools in Akosombo, located in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region. This initiative is part of BOST’s nationwide program aimed at providing educational resources to schools, with a target of distributing 100,000 items across the country.

The recipient schools include Atimpoku RC Basic School, Atimpoku L/A Junior High School, and four other local institutions. BOST’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager, Mr. Yaw Antwi Dadzie, explained that this donation forms part of the company’s CSR activities for the year, focusing on schools in communities impacted by BOST’s operations. He emphasized that the surrounding communities of their depots are their primary focus, ensuring these schools receive the necessary support. So far, BOST has already distributed educational materials in areas like Kumasi, Savulugu, Buipe, Debre, and Bolgatanga, with the Akosombo area being the latest recipient. The materials donated include 11,000 exercise books and 2,000 supplementary reading books.

Since the initiative’s inception, BOST has delivered about 80,000 educational materials to schools in affected communities. This effort follows a needs-based assessment conducted two years ago to determine the most pressing educational needs. In addition to this, BOST is running a GH₵1.5 million scholarship program for 50 students at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), offering scholarships that include laptops, stipends, and other support for students pursuing engineering programs. BOST is also committed to sustainability, with ongoing tree-planting projects to help reduce its carbon footprint.

The head teacher of Atimpoku RC Basic School expressed gratitude for the timely donation, noting that many students in the area often lacked exercise books, hindering their ability to participate in class assessments. He highlighted that this donation would significantly improve their ability to track student progress and performance. The head teacher of Atimpoku L/A Junior High School also appreciated the support, stating that the donation would ensure every student had the necessary books to complete their classwork.

BOST’s ongoing support underscores its commitment to community development and education. The company continues to prioritize initiatives that provide tangible benefits to the communities where it operates, ensuring that students have the resources they need to succeed.
