Samuel Abu Jinapor, the sitting Member of Parliament for the Damongo constituency, has been confirmed as the winner of the December 7 parliamentary election.

Representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Jinapor retained his seat amid heightened tensions and disputes following the voting process. The announcement came after confusion over the results led to demands for clarification from supporters of various candidates.

Order was restored by electoral officials with the assistance of security personnel, allowing the final results to be declared. Mr. Jinapor received 16,222 votes, defeating Adam Mutawakilu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who garnered 14,425 votes. An independent candidate, Issahaku Saaka, obtained 66 votes, while 356 ballots were rejected.

Out of 31,069 votes cast in total, the outcome underscored the competitive nature of the race between the NPP and the NDC. Despite the disruptions, officials confirmed that all voting and counting procedures were conducted in line with the required protocols.

With this victory, Mr. Jinapor is set to continue representing the Damongo constituency in Parliament, focusing on furthering his achievements and addressing the needs of his constituents. Samuel Abu Jinapor, the sitting Member of Parliament for the Damongo constituency, has been confirmed as the winner of the December 7 parliamentary election.
