Cheddar’s Wife Heartbroken Over Missing Vote Rumors
Ruby Bediako, the wife of Nana Kwame Bediako, Independent Presidential Candidate for Ghana’s 2024 general elections, has expressed her disappointment with the country’s electoral system following rumors about her husband’s voting results.
The rumors claimed that Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, received only one vote at a polling station in the Korle Klottey constituency, where he and his wife cast their ballots. This sparked widespread speculation about the integrity of the voting process.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Ruby Bediako voiced her frustration and heartbreak over the situation, questioning the transparency of the electoral system. “It wasn’t just me. I think it was the whole family that went [to vote]. I’m heartbroken because I think the system failed us. Where is my vote? I don’t know where my vote went,” she said in an interview.
Ruby’s comments reflect the concerns of many Ghanaians who are increasingly critical of perceived flaws in the electoral process. Despite her disappointment, Ruby expressed satisfaction with the overall outcome of the elections. She emphasized the importance of unity and support for President-elect John Mahama. “Ghana won, and that’s the most important thing. Let’s all celebrate our President-elect,” she urged.
Nana Kwame Bediako, running under the New Force banner, achieved a remarkable feat for a first-time presidential candidate. He finished third in the race, securing 84,478 votes—a significant accomplishment for a political newcomer. This result highlights the growing influence of alternative political movements in Ghana’s democratic landscape.
Ruby also acknowledged the overwhelming support her husband received, both online and in person, noting that many Ghanaians resonated with his vision for the country. “The comments on social media show it wasn’t just me. There are a lot more people looking for his vote,” she remarked.
Despite the controversy surrounding the missing vote rumors, the Bediako family remains optimistic. Ruby emphasized that their focus is on celebrating Ghana’s democratic progress and rallying behind the newly elected leader.
This election has showcased Nana Kwame Bediako’s potential as a significant player in Ghanaian politics, and his third-place finish serves as a foundation for future political endeavors. Meanwhile, the conversation about electoral transparency and reform continues to gain traction among Ghanaians.
