The Invading Force in Patilme: A Call for Justice and Restoration of Peace
Last night brought turmoil and devastation to the usually calm community of Possum-Patilme. An operation to combat the criminal activities in the area culminated in the arrest of one of the most notorious armed robbers, Bob, a Moshie by tribe. Weapons were retrieved during his apprehension, but unfortunately, his accomplice, Lukure, managed to evade capture.
Bob endured a severe beating from the security operatives, leading him to disclose the names of other criminals involved in heinous acts in the region. Among the names revealed were Nabi Sabilley, the late Bangari, the late Fatawu, Piba, the late Ali “Barawo,” and Lukure. This notorious gang has been responsible for a series of atrocities, capitalizing on the ongoing conflict to advance their criminal activities.
These individuals are known for armed robberies, including cattle rustling, ambushing traders from Togo for their CFA currency, and killing innocent civilians. One particularly horrifying incident was the death of Tahiru, a Busanga man, near St. Anthony’s School, where he was brutally killed, and money was stolen.
Lukure, a mastermind of many of these operations, has proven elusive. His younger brother, Bogga, is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence. Bogga is part of the same criminal network led by Lukure and Bob, who are known for carrying out killings and robberies in the surrounding areas.
Bob’s name has also been linked to the tragic Bazua massacre, where Muniru, Basit, and Naziru lost their lives. These attacks were meticulously planned and executed under Bob’s direction, causing heartbreak and instability in the Kusaug region.
The arrest of Bob offers a glimmer of hope for justice. However, this is only the beginning. Law enforcement must intensify their efforts to bring the remaining criminals, including Lukure, to justice. This will require robust intelligence-sharing, community support, and collaboration between security agencies and local leaders.
The Kusaug region deserves peace and a return to normalcy. The actions of these criminals have left a trail of grief and fear, disrupting lives and livelihoods. It is time for the entire community to rally together against these forces of evil and demand a safer environment for all.
As a peace activist, I, Rashid Kabore, call on all stakeholders to act decisively. Let us not allow these criminals to exploit the conflict any longer. Bob’s arrest should serve as a reminder that no one is above the law, and justice will prevail.
May the captured criminals face the full weight of the law, and may those who have lost their lives rest in peace. For the sake of our beloved Kusaug, let us stand united to restore the harmony and stability that once defined our homeland.
