On Sunday, December 15, 2024, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak will square off in the first Super Clash of the 2023–24 Ghana Premier League season at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The two teams come into the match with different recent records. With four victories in their past five games, Hearts of Oak, who now sit sixth in the league standings with 19 points, are playing well.

The Phobians, whose last triumph at Baba Yara Stadium came in April 2018 thanks to a goal from Patrick Razak, are hoping to end a six-year losing streak against Kotoko in Kumasi.

In contrast, Asante Kotoko is going through a difficult time as they have only won once in their last five games. With eighteen points, they are presently in seventh place in the standings.

The Porcupines, who have not lost to Hearts in league action since the 2020–21 campaign, will try to regain their winning ways under head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum as they return to their home field following a four-month stadium closure.

Both clubs are keen to win the Super Clash to move up the league standings and establish their dominance, so it should be a fierce contest.

Kwesi Appiah promises to help the Black Stars earn a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

Kwesi Appiah, the coach of Sudan, has stated that he is prepared to help the Black Stars in any way possible as they attempt to earn a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

His comments follow the team's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) competition.

After six games, the four-time African champions had three losses, three draws, and three points, finishing last in Group F.

As a result, the Black Stars will not participate in the tournament in Morocco next year for the first time in twenty years.

But in an interview with Asempa FM, Appiah promised support to ensure the Black Stars make it to the Mundial whenever the World Cup qualifiers resume in March 2025.

"The present players are good, so if you need any help, I will be there to help and make sure the squad qualifies because, in the end, it is about Ghana and nobody else," he said.

After four games, Ghana is level with Comoros, who are at the top of the table, at nine points, placing them in second place in Group I. The Black Stars' next qualification matches will be against Madagascar and Chad.

After four games, Sudan's head coach, Kwesi Appiah, has led the Falcons of Jediane to the top of Group B with ten points.
