Evans Owusu, a former defender for Asante Kotoko, has endorsed his old team and predicted that the Porcupine Warriors will defeat their bitter rivals, Hearts of Oak, in the next Super Clash.
On Sunday, December 15, 2024, the two titans will play each other in a Ghana Premier League match at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Owusu maintained his optimism over Kotoko's chances despite acknowledging the fixture's unpredictability.
Since we are aware of the nature of this match, I would not discount Hearts of Oak because anything can happen in sports. But I am picking Asante Kotoko to win," he told Sportsboom.
The defender, who had a great time with Kotoko, gave the team credit for helping to mold his career and giving him a stage on which to display his skills. He also commended Kotoko's ardent supporters for their unwavering love and support.
"Playing for Asante Kotoko has been really beneficial to me; it has allowed me to show off my skills and experience the affection and support of the supporters." Thus, I am picking Asante Kotoko to win," he continued.
Hearts of Oak is now in sixth place with 19 points, while Kotoko, the host team, is in seventh place with 18 points.

Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah believes the Black Stars' AFCON qualification collapse was regrettable.
Kwesi Appiah, the coach of Sudan, has called Ghana's exclusion from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) competition regrettable.
Under Otto Addo's leadership, the four-time African champions missed out on qualifying for the continent's most prestigious competition for the first time in twenty years.
Ghana ended at the bottom of Group F with three points after six games, recording three draws and three losses.
In an interview, Appiah, who has served as Ghana's coach twice, called the scenario regrettable but also stated that the team's inability to qualify must teach them important lessons.
"I stated right away that only two teams will advance, and it was regrettable that Ghana was unable to do so," Appiah added.
However, there are instances when you learn from them and take precautions to ensure that they do not happen again. That is football and that is life. "You sit down and consider how to improve things if they do not go well," he continued.
In the meantime, Sudan, led by Kwesi Appiah, qualified for the AFCON competition, which would be held in Morocco, along with Angola, who won their group.
