Before this weekend's Super Clash against Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Kwesi Appiah, Head of Sporting Affairs for Asante Kotoko, has urged composure.

Appiah challenged both sides to play with composure despite acknowledging the anxiety that comes with high-stakes games.

A single point separates the two teams this season, setting up their first major matchup of the year.

Kotoko, who defeated Hearts in the league last season and won the Democracy Cup in the preseason, will take on a Hearts team looking for retribution.

Appiah emphasized the strain surrounding the match and its possible effects on players, management, and supporters in an interview with Ghanasportspage. He emphasized how crucial emotional control is to delivering a powerful performance.

"Whenever Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are involved, there is friction. It impacts players, fans, and management. However, most of the time, how you manage the tension makes a significant difference, Appiah stated.

It impairs your ability to receive the ball or make passes when you let too much pressure get to you. I advise them to unwind and play with composure because you can only perform at your peak when you are at ease," he continued.

During AFCON Qualifiers, Kwesi Appiah discusses how to handle the dual Sudan-Ghana FA job.

Kwesi Appiah has described how he handled his twin responsibilities as coach of Sudan and member of the Executive Council (ExCo) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following their placement in the same group for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) told Appiah to resign from one of the positions to prevent a conflict of interest. He responded by renouncing his membership in the ExCo until the end of the qualifiers.

Appiah discussed how the ExCo handled the matter in an interview with Oyerepa FM, focusing on important meetings with the Black Stars.

The ExCo requested me to leave meetings whenever they discussed the Black Stars because Ghana and Sudan were in the same qualification group. It was not a huge thing to me. Since I was Sudan's coach, I did not anticipate attending those sessions," he stated.

Additionally, Appiah explained the functions of the Black Stars' management committee and the ExCo.

The management committee is in charge of making decisions about the Black Stars' daily operations. The ExCo comes up whenever there is a significant topic to debate. Since it is unfair and wrong, I could not see why I should be there," he continued.
