Dr. Bawumia Urges NPP Members to Unite and Focus on Winning 2028 Elections
The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on party members to stop the blame game and instead work together in unity to secure victory in the 2028 general elections. Dr. Bawumia made the call during a courtesy visit from NPP members of the Korle Klottey constituency, where he addressed the challenges the party faced in the most recent elections.
Reflecting on the 2024 election results, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged that while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its candidate, President John Mahama, won the elections, it was a defeat in the battle, not the war. He emphasized that the NPP had seen a significant drop in voter support, with their numbers declining by 40 percent compared to the 2020 elections. In contrast, the NDC's numbers remained largely unchanged, despite their victory.
"The analysis is simple. We need to accept the reality and work towards the future," he stated. Dr. Bawumia urged party members to refrain from pointing fingers and to focus on building a stronger, more united front for the upcoming elections. "United we stand, divided we fall. Blame games will destroy us. Let’s build together and stay united, and we will win the 2028 elections," he added.
Dr. Bawumia expressed his unwavering faith in God, reminding his supporters that sometimes events happen according to God's will, even if they do not align with human understanding. He encouraged the party to focus on positive action rather than dwelling on past setbacks.
The parliamentary candidate for Korle Klottey, Nii Noi Valentino Nortey, also spoke at the meeting, reaffirming the strong support of his constituents for Dr. Bawumia. He assured the Vice President that the NPP supporters in Korle Klottey are firmly behind him and are committed to his leadership. “We are here to encourage our father and assure him that we will not stop following him in whatever he does,” Nortey said. "We believe in his policies and hard work, and he should not be discouraged."
Dr. Bawumia's message was clear: the NPP must unite, focus on its shared goals, and build a solid foundation for a successful 2028 election campaign. His call for unity and faith in God's plan resonates as the party looks ahead to the challenges and opportunities of the next election cycle.
