Prophet Kofi Oduro: NPP’s Election Defeat Is God’s Work

Prophet Kofi Oduro, founder of Alabaster International Ministries and a vocal critic of the Akufo-Addo administration, has described the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 elections as an act of God. Speaking during a Sunday sermon, the prophet asserted that the outcome was divine retribution, aimed at teaching the NPP a lesson for ignoring both his warnings and the cries of the citizens.

“For almost eight years, this voice has been speaking, and you thought we were against you,” Prophet Oduro said, reflecting on his past criticisms of the government. He noted that the NPP often dismissed critics as enemies rather than acknowledging the concerns raised. “Now that you are in opposition, weeping in your homes, you will know I wasn’t the enemy. I had your best interest at heart,” he stated.

Prophet Oduro pointed out that the 2024 election results revealed a significant shift in Ghana’s political landscape, with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) winning constituencies traditionally dominated by the NPP. He attributed this shift to divine intervention, emphasizing, “This is God’s work.”

Urging the NPP to reflect on their tenure and learn from their mistakes, the prophet called on the party to use this period in opposition as an opportunity for growth. “Sit down and reflect. What went wrong? Ask yourself: Was I too proud? Too arrogant? Too complacent? Too pompous? God is giving you another chance,” he said.

Prophet Oduro also reminded the NPP that divine rebuke comes from a place of love and care. “If God is reprimanding and rebuking you, take it in good faith. Those he loves, he rebukes. I’ve seen prominent MPs who have lost their seats. God is speaking,” he emphasized.

Turning to John Dramani Mahama’s landslide victory in the elections, Prophet Oduro addressed critics who questioned the former president’s return to power. “People are analyzing and claiming he didn’t deserve the victory, but it’s God who decides,” the prophet declared, affirming that Mahama’s win was part of a divine plan.

Prophet Oduro’s message serves as both a rebuke and a call to action for the NPP, urging them to reflect on their leadership and the discontent that led to their defeat. As the party adjusts to its new role in opposition, the prophet’s words resonate as a reminder of humility and accountability in leadership.
