Ghanaian actor and politician Prince David Osei has responded strongly to critics, vowing to defend himself amid attacks following his support for his political party in the recent elections.

In an exclusive interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Prince David Osei addressed the backlash he faced on social media after his verified X account allegedly posted disparaging comments about President-Elect John Dramani Mahama.

"One thing I know for sure is that no one can harm me unless God permits it. But I’ll also stand my ground because Ghana belongs to all of us, and I’m not afraid of anyone," he declared confidently.

Prince David emphasized the importance of respecting differing political opinions, asserting that everyone has the right to support whichever ideology they believe in. "If I support a political ideology and someone feels it’s right to attack me, I’ll defend myself, just as they are entitled to support their political party," he said.

His remarks came after criticism erupted over a post allegedly made by individuals managing his X account, where President-Elect Mahama was referred to as a "drunkard." The now-deleted post sparked widespread outrage, leading Prince to issue an apology, though he denied authoring the offensive comment.

Explaining the situation, Prince revealed that during the election period, he had distanced himself from his phone due to the stress and disappointment of the results. "Normally, when the bullying starts, I hand my phones over to my cousins or friends," he explained.

He recounted waking up to reports of insulting comments attributed to him and, upon investigation, discovered that the people managing his account had responded provocatively to attackers online. While the post was deleted, it had already gone viral, leading to death threats and further criticism.

"Because it came from my page, I issued an apology and expressed my regret. People were bombarding my phone with death threats," he said. Despite the apology, Prince reiterated that the comments did not align with his values and made it clear that insulting elderly individuals was not in his character.

He concluded by reaffirming his respect for President-Elect Mahama and his commitment to promoting peace in the aftermath of the elections. "I even congratulated the NDC and the President-Elect. Elections are over; we should all strive for peace," he said.
