Ghanaian actor and politician Prince David Osei has sent a strong message to his critics, vowing to defend himself against attacks and death threats following his support for his political party in the recent elections. In an exclusive interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Prince David Osei addressed the backlash he received on social media after his verified X account allegedly made disparaging comments about President-Elect John Dramani Mahama.

Prince David Osei emphasized that he's not afraid of anyone, stating, "One thing I know for sure is no man can kill me unless God allows it, but I'll also defend myself because Ghana belongs to all of us". He stressed the importance of respecting differing opinions, highlighting that everyone has the right to their political affiliation. "If I support a political ideology and someone stays at home and feels it's right to attack me, I'll defend myself because they also support a political party," he added.

The controversy surrounding Prince David Osei's X account began when an alleged post described President-Elect Mahama as a "drunkard." Although the post was deleted, it had already gone viral, leading to widespread backlash and death threats. Prince David Osei apologized for the post, but denied being the author, claiming that his account was hijacked by family members.

Explaining the situation, Prince David Osei revealed that he had distanced himself from his phones during the election period due to the disappointment and stress of the results. He normally leaves his phones with his cousins or friends when faced with online bullying. However, this time, individuals handling his account responded provocatively to attackers on social media, leading to the offending post.

Despite the backlash, Prince David Osei reiterated that the comments did not reflect his values, emphasizing that it's not in his nature to insult elderly people. He concluded by reaffirming his respect for President-Elect Mahama and his commitment to promoting peace post-elections. "I even congratulated the NDC and the President-Elect. Elections are over; we should all learn to live in peace," he stated.

Prince David Osei's defiance in the face of death threats and criticism highlights the need for respect and tolerance in Ghana's political discourse. As the country navigates its post-election landscape, it's essential for politicians and citizens alike to prioritize peaceful coexistence and constructive dialogue.
