Denzel Washington apologizes for spilling ‘Black Panther 3’ news.

Denzel Washington recently made headlines after hinting at potential upcoming projects, perhaps revealing more than intended. While promoting his latest film, Gladiator II, on Australia’s Today show, the Oscar-winning actor discussed his illustrious career and plans for the future.

Washington mentioned that at this stage of his career, he is only interested in working with the best. He then shared details about what lies ahead after his Broadway stint in Shakespeare’s Othello, where he will play the titular role. After that, I’m playing Hannibal. After that, I’ve been talking with Steve McQueen about a film. After that, Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next Black Panther,” Washington revealed.

This statement sparked speculation, as Marvel Studios has not officially announced a third film in the Black Panther franchise. Addressing the situation on Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast, Washington shared that he reached out to Coogler, whom he called a genius, to apologize for the premature disclosure. I called him and apologized for talking about the movie, and right there sitting with him was his beautiful wife, Washington explained. He’s still Ryan, humble and full of ideas. Whatever he writes, I’ll read.

Beyond his professional projects, Washington also opened up about his personal journey toward better health. The actor recently made headlines when he revealed that he had stopped drinking. In his interview with Variety, Washington shared the motivations behind this life change.

I’ve been on a two-year program to get healthier. At the Academy Awards, I looked at myself and thought, ‘I’ve got to change, he said. Washington credited his transformation to working with trainer Doug Romero and noted that it has been a rewarding process. It’s been my birthday gift to myself — getting to a place where I feel okay looking in the mirror, he added.

At 69, Washington continues to push boundaries in his career while prioritizing his well-being. With projects like Gladiator II and Othello on the horizon, along with collaborations with industry icons like Steve McQueen and Ryan Coogler, he remains a powerful presence in Hollywood. His candid reflections on health and his career choices offer a glimpse into the thoughtful, disciplined mindset that has made him one of the most respected figures in entertainment.
