Samba O'Neil, a defender for Asante Kotoko, said the club is not under any pressure before their eagerly awaited game against bitter rivals Hearts of Oak.
The 2024–25 Ghana Premier League season's Matchday 13 matchup between the two football powerhouses will take place at Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
After defeating Aduana Stars to end a five-match losing streak, O'Neil stressed that the club is not under pressure and is only concerned with getting another victory.
"We are taking the game seriously and with all of our attention. We are ready for the biggest game on our schedule," the Congolese defender told reporters.
"We are not under any actual pressure. Football involves pressure, but for us, it is all about optimism. No matter who my opponent is, I always want to win, and this game is no exception," he continued.
Hearts of Oak is in sixth place in the league rankings, while Asante Kotoko is in seventh.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has finished drawing the African qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
Taking place in Morocco from October 17 to November 8, 2025, the tournament will include 28 African countries, except Ghana, vying for five berths.
Due to age-cheating accusations made by the Moroccan Federation following the 2022 World Cup qualifications, the CAF banned the Ghanaian Black Maidens from the tournament.
The draw, which took place on December 12, 2024, showed that 24 countries would play in the first round. The winners would then go to the second round to play against CAF sides with higher rankings, including Kenya, Zambia, Nigeria, and Burundi.
The second-round winners will advance to the last qualifying round, where they will compete for the few spots allotted to the African-hosted tournament.
