The Porcupine Warriors are concentrating on their matchup with bitter rivals Hearts of Oak in Sunday's Super Clash, according to Asante Kotoko defender Samba Gilbani O'Neil.

On matchday 13 of the Ghana Premier League, the two most prestigious clubs in Ghana will square off at Baba Yara Stadium.

Asante Kotoko is in seventh place with 18 points ahead of the game, while Hearts of Oak is in sixth place with 19 points. Either side will benefit greatly from a victory as they seek to advance in the standings.

"We are prepared to play the game on Sunday and are focused. It is the biggest contest as if it were a major one. As if we simply declared ourselves prepared to play," Samba said to reporters.

He responded, "No, no, we do not feel any pressure," when asked if the players were under any strain. However, the pressure is natural; pressure is necessary.

When Kotoko defeated Hearts of Oak to win the first Democracy Cup in July 2024, the Congolese center-back was named Man of the Match.

When he plays Hearts of Oak in Kumasi this Sunday, he will be looking to put on another outstanding display.

Twelve games into the season, the 24-year-old has made nine appearances in the Ghana Premier League.

In the first round of the tournament, Black Maidens defeated Bénin 4-1.

At the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, Ghana's U-17 girls defeated Bénin 4-1 in the opening match of the inaugural WAFU Zone-B U-17 Women's Cup on Thursday, setting the stage for an outstanding start to the competition.

Priscilla Mensah gave the Black Maidens the lead five minutes into the match, establishing their dominance early on. Then, Christiana Ashieku took center stage, scoring an incredible hat-trick in the 17th, 44th, and 45th minutes to give the team a resounding 4-0 lead at the break.

After the interval, Bénin was more determined and scored a goal in the 55th minute by taking advantage of a Ghanaian defensive blunder. Their attempts, however, were too late to challenge Ghana's hegemony in the game, and the Black Maidens won all three points.

Ashieku's hat-trick was the first in the competition, and her outstanding performance earned her the title of "Lady of the Match."

Both Ghana and Benin have automatically advanced to the semifinals as Burkina Faso withdrew from the competition; they are now awaiting the outcome of Group B.
