Alhaji Kassim Zubeiru, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Effutu, has vehemently denied allegations of attempting to steal streetlights from the Assembly's warehouse. The accusations were made by supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the area, who claimed that the MCE was caught on camera stealing the streetlights.

However, according to Mr. Zubeiru, he was simply relocating the streetlights to a safer location to prevent destruction by NDC supporters. He alleged that he had received intelligence that some NDC members were planning to invade the Assembly's office and destroy property, and therefore decided to move the streetlights to another warehouse owned by the Assembly.

"I gathered information that some NDC supporters intended to invade the Assembly's office and destroy items, just like it has happened elsewhere after the elections," Mr. Zubeiru explained. "I therefore decided to move the streetlights to another warehouse belonging to the Assembly for safekeeping."

The MCE described the accusation of theft as "pure mischief" and urged the public to disregard the claim. He pointed out that he had been in charge of distributing streetlights in the area for the past three years without any incidents of theft.

The controversy surrounding the streetlights has sparked a heated debate in the community, with some residents expressing concern over the alleged theft. However, Mr. Zubeiru's explanation has shed new light on the situation, suggesting that the relocation of the streetlights was a precautionary measure to prevent destruction.

In a call for unity, Mr. Zubeiru has urged the people of Winneba to come together for the development of the area. He pledged to support whoever succeeds him as MCE, emphasizing the importance of continuity and progress in the community.

As the matter continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the community will respond to Mr. Zubeiru's explanation. The incident has highlighted the need for effective communication and transparency in governance, and it is hoped that the issue will be resolved amicably. The people of Effutu deserve clarity and accountability from their leaders, and it is essential that the MCE's actions are guided by the principles of integrity and transparency.
