The Acting Divisional Police Commander for Winneba, DSP Gabriel Kyei-Yeboah, has urged residents of the municipality to avoid taking the law into their own hands following a series of violent incidents after the 2024 General Election. DSP Kyei-Yeboah reassured the community that the Ghana Police Service is actively working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the disturbances. In an interview with Adom News, he emphasized the importance of community trust in the police and encouraged residents to report any acts of violence or threats. He warned that such acts could lead to severe consequences for the offenders and highlighted the need for a collective effort to prevent further incidents of unrest in the area.

DSP Kyei-Yeboah’s call for peace was reinforced during the launch of the 2025 Winneba Masquerade Festival, where he made a strong appeal for unity among residents. The Commander noted that while development projects are ongoing in the municipality, it is essential for the community to focus on maintaining a peaceful environment to allow these projects to thrive. He called on the people of Winneba to set aside their differences and work together, emphasizing that a united front would help deter potential violators. This sentiment was echoed by Winneba’s Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Kassim Zubairu, who also urged the community to concentrate on the positive aspects of development, such as tourism, to boost the local economy and provide employment opportunities for the youth.

During the festival’s launch, Nana Yaw Asamoah, leader of the Winneba youth groups, highlighted the importance of prioritizing tourism as a key strategy for economic development in the area. He emphasized that by promoting tourism, the community could generate income, create jobs, and foster a stable environment that attracts investments. DSP Kyei-Yeboah supported this view, stressing that maintaining peace was vital for the successful development and growth of Winneba. He called on the government to provide the necessary support to ensure that tourism becomes a viable and sustainable industry in the region. By focusing on peace and cooperation, DSP Kyei-Yeboah and local leaders hope to set a strong foundation for Winneba’s future development and economic prosperity.
