After lots of back and forth in a match that looked very tactical but also giving one side more chances than the other. The 2024 year just needed a super clash like this to end it. Both head coaches brought in their key players and starters and also kept their super subs on the bench, notable ones were Mawuli wayo of hearts of oak, one player who had done it against many clubs this season. Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum also kept his Nigerian import on the bench because he just came back from an injury. The team's top scores in the names of Hamza Issah and Albert Amoah were all available for the match.
The game started at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and in just under two minutes Asante Kotoko came close to breaking the deadlock on the game through Albert Amoah who was fed with a long ball he received beautifully and his shot was stopped by Benjamin Asare who was in post for the Phobians. This set a tone to the fans present that they were in for a nice game that was never going to disappoint them. It just had everything a fan would love to see in a big game, the take ons, the tackles, dribbles and saves but for the goals that the game lacked in greater part of it goals that was the ultimate goal of the game.
The second department started with the same momentum and was even intense. The halftime talk worked for both teams a they were rejuvenated for the next 45 minutes. The centre backs of both sides were the stars of the show. Asante Kotoko brought in Fernando Bassey and Emmanuel Antwi for Peter Acquah Amidu and Baba Yahaya who had done their honest part. That was the first two subs of the game that happened after 75 minutes of action. These were followed by multiple one from the away side. The turning point was when the game was ending and a long ball was sent in the hearts box and miscommunication and perseverance help Albert Amoah put the ball behind the goal line. Asante Kotoko won the game by a goal to nothing.
