The Best 2024 nominees are favorites to win FIFA's award.
FIFA has unveiled the list of nominees for The Best FIFA Football Awards 2024, celebrating another thrilling year of men’s and women’s football at both club and international levels. These prestigious awards will highlight the sport's finest talents, from players and coaches to goalkeepers and fans, with some exciting new voting features introduced this year.
Voting is now open on FIFA.com, and fans have a significant role in selecting the winners. In categories like The Best FIFA Men’s Player, The Best FIFA Women’s Player, The Best FIFA Men’s Coach, The Best FIFA Women’s Coach, and the Best FIFA Goalkeeper awards for both men and women, fan votes will carry equal weight to those of national team captains, coaches, and selected media representatives. For Spain, the media representative participating in this process is Juan Ignacio Gallardo, director of MARCA.
The FIFA Fan Award will be decided exclusively by fans, recognizing the best moment or gesture of fan culture. On the other hand, the FIFA Fair Play Award will be determined by a panel of experts, celebrating outstanding sportsmanship.
Two other awards, the FIFA Puskás Award, and the new Marta Award, blend fan votes with input from a panel of FIFA Legends. The FIFA Puskás Award honors the scorer of the best goal in men’s football, regardless of competition or nationality. Meanwhile, the Marta Award, introduced this year, will recognize the best goal scored in any women’s league, paying tribute to Brazilian football legend Marta.
The most notable change in this year’s awards is fans’ involvement in selecting the FIFA Men’s XI and FIFA Women’s XI. For the first time, fans will join a panel of experts to choose their ideal lineups. Voters can select players from a shortlist of 77 nominees (22 defenders, 22 midfielders, 22 forwards, and 11 goalkeepers) and arrange them into predefined tactical formations. Fan votes will carry the same weight as those of the expert panel, adding an exciting interactive element to the awards process.
Voting for all categories closed on Tuesday, December 10, at 23:59 (CET). FIFA has also published detailed rules and guidelines for the awards on its Digital Hub.
The upcoming awards ceremony promises to celebrate the best in football, blending tradition with innovation and giving fans a powerful voice in shaping the results. Whether it’s a stunning goal, exemplary sportsmanship, or a standout season, The Best FIFA Football Awards continues to honor the players, coaches, and moments that define the beautiful game.
