As the dust settles on the 2024 general elections, President-elect John Dramani Mahama is facing mounting pressure to deliver on his campaign promises. Ghanaians, who overwhelmingly endorsed Mahama's return to the presidency, are eager to see tangible changes in their lives.

Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament for Tamale South, has prayed that Mahama does not disappoint Ghanaians, emphasizing that the president-elect's administration must avoid the arrogance and impunity that characterized the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

Iddrisu assured that Mahama's government will be marked by humility, with ministers who will uphold humility as a hallmark. He also promised that the Mahama administration will respect the rule of law and avoid the abuse of office.

Outgoing Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson echoed similar sentiments, stating that the incoming Mahama administration will provide a leadership that listens to the concerns of the people. He assured that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will uphold governance rooted in integrity, probity, and accountability.

Forson noted that Ghanaians have transformed the NPP into a micro minority, with the NDC claiming over 50 seats. He emphasized that this victory is not just for the NDC but for the people of Ghana, who have spoken loudly against greed, impunity, and disrespect for the rule of law.

President-elect Mahama has cautioned NDC supporters against overly rejoicing about the defeat of the NPP. He noted that Ghanaians will measure the NDC with the same yardstick that they used to measure the outgoing NPP government.

Mahama emphasized that Ghanaians have always held the NDC to a higher standard because of its social democratic ideals. He urged NDC supporters to remain humble and focused on delivering on their campaign promises.

Ningo-Prampram lawmaker Samuel Nartey George has also emphasized the significant expectations on Mahama's shoulders. He noted that only divine guidance can enable Mahama to steer the nation successfully, given the colossal mess and gargantuan damage inherited from the outgoing NPP government.

As Mahama prepares to take office, Ghanaians are eagerly waiting to see if he will deliver on his promises. With the NDC's return to power, expectations are high, and the party must work tirelessly to meet the aspirations of the Ghanaian people.
