A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Emmanuel Marfo, has publicly criticized the party's leadership for failing to synchronize its actions with the campaign promises of its presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. According to Dr. Marfo, the contradictions between government policies and Dr. Bawumia's promises created confusion among voters and undermined the party's efforts.

Dr. Marfo cited two significant examples of these contradictions. Firstly, Dr. Bawumia had promised to exclude LGBTQ+ individuals from his administration, but President Akufo-Addo failed to sign the corresponding law when he had the opportunity. This created the impression that the President and Vice President were not on the same page. Secondly, Dr. Bawumia had vowed to cancel the contentious E-Levy, which was seen as a drawback to digitalization. However, President Akufo-Addo had already signed the E-Levy into law, making it a nuisance for many people.

Dr. Marfo argued that these mixed signals weakened the party's campaign and made Ghanaians question the credibility of Dr. Bawumia's promises. He quoted a saying to illustrate his point: "What you are doing is so loud, I cannot hear what you are saying." This phrase highlights the idea that President Akufo-Addo's actions overshadowed Dr. Bawumia's policies, making it difficult for voters to take the latter's promises seriously.

Dr. Marfo also expressed disappointment in President Akufo-Addo, who had described himself as Dr. Bawumia's number-one supporter. He questioned why the President did not take policy steps to back Dr. Bawumia's message, suggesting that the President's inaction undermined the party's chances of winning the election.

The NPP's failure to align its actions with Dr. Bawumia's policies may have contributed to the party's inability to break the "8" – a reference to the alternating eight-year terms between the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Dr. Marfo's criticism highlights the importance of consistency and coordination within a political party, particularly during election campaigns.

In conclusion, the contradictions between President Akufo-Addo's actions and Dr. Bawumia's policies created a significant challenge for the NPP's campaign. Dr. Marfo's criticism serves as a reminder of the need for political parties to present a unified front and ensure that their actions align with their campaign promises.
