Medikal Opens Up on Fallout with Davido Over Loyalty Issues
Ghanaian rapper and CEO of Beyond Kontrol, Medikal, has shed light on the end of his friendship with Nigerian superstar Davido. In a recent interview with Abeiku Santana, Medikal disclosed that the fallout stemmed from loyalty issues, which he values deeply.
According to Medikal, he had always been loyal to Davido, but when the time came for Davido to reciprocate, his actions fell short, prompting Medikal to distance himself. The rapper explained that the conflict began when Davido requested him to cut ties with Nigerian singer Dammy Krane. At the time, Medikal had recorded a song with Dammy Krane, but Davido, who was feuding with the singer, urged Medikal to disassociate from him.
Dammy Krane had announced our collaboration on social media, and shortly after, Medikal recounted that Davido had reached out to me. He asked me not to associate with Dammy Krane because they were having issues. Since we were cool and Davido would often visit me whenever he came to Ghana, I decided to honor his request and cut ties with Dammy Krane.
However, the situation took a turn when Medikal felt slighted by someone from Davido’s camp. He revealed that a member of Davido’s team disrespected him in a song, and as someone who considered Davido a friend, he reached out to him about the matter.
I expected him to address the issue, but his response was, The game is the game, Medikal said. That really hurt me because it made me realize he wasn’t loyal to me in the same way I had been to him.”
Medikal emphasized the importance of loyalty in his life, stating that he grew up valuing relationships built on mutual respect and trust. Loyalty means a lot to me, he said. “When I saw that Davido wasn’t reciprocating that loyalty, I felt disappointed. That’s why I decided to cut ties with him.
The revelation has sparked discussions among fans about the dynamics of friendships in the entertainment industry and the value of loyalty in personal and professional relationships. Despite the fallout, Medikal has remained focused on his music career, choosing to prioritize his principles over relationships that don’t align with his values.
