2024 Ghana Movie Awards Nominees Announced


After a two-year hiatus, the Ghana Movie Awards is making a grand return with its 2024 edition, scheduled to take place on December 24 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). The announcement of this year’s nominees has sparked excitement in the Ghanaian film industry, as it highlights the exceptional work of actors, directors, producers, and technical teams over the past year.

The awards will recognize excellence across 21 categories, including Achievement in Cinematography, Directing, Editing, Costume and Wardrobe, Production Design, and Sound Mixing and Editing. Some of the leading films competing for accolades include Kadara, Taste of Sin, A Country Called Ghana, Pawn, and Widow’s Gift.

Key Nominees


In the Achievement in Cinematography category, Kadara (Joshua Nii Dromo), Taste of Sin (Tunde Adekoya), and A Country Called Ghana (Evander Kwame Agyemang) are top contenders.

For Achievement in Directing, nominees include Frank Rajah Arase (Taste of Sin), Pascal Amanfo (God is African), and Juliet Ibrahim (Widow’s Gift).

The Best Picture category features fierce competition among Red Carpet (Samira Yakubu), Taste of Sin (Dominion TV), A Country Called Ghana (Kwadwo Nkansah), and Widow’s Gift (Juliet Ibrahim).

The awards will also celebrate acting talent, with Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role nominations going to Kwadwo Nkansah (A Country Called Ghana), James Gardiner (Taste of Sin), and Adjetey Anang (Pawn). In the Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role category, Habiba Sinare (Kadara), Nana Ama McBrown (Galamsey), and Nadia Buari (Forever in a Night) stand out.

Emerging stars are celebrated in the Discovery of the Year category, featuring nominees such as Rosemond Brown (Widow’s Gift), Martina Dwamenq (Bruna), and Augustina Aboabo (Big Six).


The 2024 Ghana Movie Awards will also recognize African collaborations, with films like Tokunbo, Red Carpet, and Blood Vessel contending for Best Movie African Collaboration.

With the awards ceremony fast approaching, fans and industry stakeholders are eager to see which nominees will emerge victorious. This year’s event promises to celebrate the creativity and resilience of the Ghanaian film industry while showcasing the immense talent of its filmmakers and performers.
