Kwame Poku, a forward for Asante Kotoko, has praised his former colleague Fabio Gama, citing the Brazilian as the reason for his first stint success.

During the 2020–21 season, when the Porcupine Warriors won the championship, Poku and Gama played together.

After scoring six goals in 16 Premier League games, the 27-year-old Ghanaian attacker joined USM Alger midway through the 2021 season.

Poku, who has returned for a second term, has praised Gama and declared that he would always hold a special place in his heart.

"Fabio Gama is a superb athlete. Despite his diminutive stature, he is quite intelligent. Since he was the sole player helping me score goals while I was with Kotoko, I missed playing alongside him. My heart will always hold him.

To celebrate his comeback, the 27-year-old signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Ghanaian powerhouses.

Poku returns after three seasons of disastrous experiences in Algeria and Morocco.

After leaving to join Olympique Khouribga of Morocco, he was offloaded when OCK was dropped from the top flight due to a problematic knee injury that hampered his playing time.

"I was genuinely pleased by him when we met on Monday to discuss what he thought would benefit the club. also has been encouraging, but also corrects me when I make mistakes.

He went on to say that his departure was due to a lack of enthusiasm within the organization.
