Apostle Ameyaw Mark, Chairman of Ambassadors for Christ Council in Techiman, Bono East Region, expressed concerns about prophets whose 2024 presidential election prophecies failed to materialize. He emphasized the importance of prophetic ministry in revering God and speaking His mind to the populace.

Apostle Mark stressed that prophets should exercise caution when making public pronouncements to avoid bringing shame to themselves. "Prophets who claim to speak God's mind but have failed prophecies have disgraced God and should not go unpunished," he stated. "Even if your spirit reveals something to you, be careful about how you make public pronouncements to avoid bringing shame and ignominy upon yourself."

Regarding the National Cathedral, Apostle Mark called on President Akufo-Addo to account for using state funds, citing a financial loss to the state. He emphasized that transparency and accountability are crucial in such projects.

However, The government of Ghana has so far spent about $58 million of taxpayers’ money on the cathedral project, but Ghanaians still have not seen any monumental evidence of their sweat.

Accra, Ghana  About 700 metres (765 yards) from Ghana’s Parliament sits one of the world’s most controversial craters, a hole surrounded by weeds into which $58m has already been sunk for the building of an interdenominational national cathedral.

President Akuffo Addo promised to build the national cathedral from his personal funds since it was a personal promise to God.

“I made a pledge to almighty God that He was gracious enough to grant my party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and I victory in the 2016 elections after two unsuccessful attempts, so I will help build a cathedral to his glory and honour,” President  Akufo-Addo said at the sod-cutting ceremony in 2020.

“The interdenominational national cathedral will help unify the Christian community and thereby help promote national unity and social cohesion,” he said.

Apostle Mark's comments come amid concerns about the misuse of state funds for the National Cathedral's construction. The project has faced controversy, with many questioning its priority and financial transparency.

Funding for the national cathedral has been shrouded in secrecy, but last year, the secretariat in charge of the project said the cost, initially estimated at $100m, has now quadrupled due to inflation.

While presenting the 2019 budget to parliament, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta promised the cathedral would not “put undue financial burdens on the state”.

He said most of the costs would be covered by donations and the government was providing only the land and an unspecified amount of “seed money for the preparatory phase”.

However, that has not been the case. Most of the $58m spent so far has come from the national coffers, Ofori-Atta himself told parliament when it summoned him in November for a censure hearing.

A month later, parliament blocked a budget allocation of $6.3m that the government had wanted to continue the project even as Ghana struggles to restructure its debt to qualify for a $3bn loan from the International Monetary Fund.

Apostle Mark's message resonates with Ghanaians seeking truth and integrity in leadership. He emphasized the importance of prophets being accountable for their words and actions, ensuring they truly speak God's mind, not their own instincts.

Furthermore, Apostle Mark encouraged prophets to seek spiritual guidance and discernment before making public pronouncements. He also urged the public to be cautious when receiving prophecies, verifying their authenticity through prayer and scripture.

By calling for accountability and transparency, Apostle Mark's message promotes a culture of integrity and trustworthiness in Ghana's religious and political landscape.
