FREDDIE BLAY'S SON ACCUSED OF SEIZING LAND WITH ARMED GUARDS

A controversy has erupted over a disputed land in Borteyman, Nungua, with Sino Africa, a subsidiary of Jospong Group, accusing Kwame Blay, son of former NPP National Chairman Freddie Blay, of seizing 29 acres of their 328-acre land.

According to Sino Africa, Kwame Blay has claimed the land through Royal Bell Investments Limited and Terraform Development Limited, companies believed to be owned by him. The company alleges that Freddie Blay is using his influence as a member of the ruling NPP government to support his son's actions.

Sino Africa claims that Kwame Blay is not only using armed landguards but also police officers to protect his alleged illegal activities on the land. The company asserts that these armed personnel are intimidating and harassing anyone who approaches the land, while the two companies, Royal Bell Investments Limited and Terraform Development Limited, carry out development on the land.

At a press conference, Gabriel Forsby, Director of Operations at Sino Africa, appealed to the government to intervene immediately, warning that the situation poses a danger. He emphasized that Sino Africa is committed to maintaining peace but will not stand by and watch their legitimate property be seized.

Forsby requested the intervention of the Ghana Police Service, including the deployment of police officers to patrol the disputed land. He underscored that this measure is crucial to ensuring that the status quo is maintained in compliance with the Court of Appeal's directive, pending the final resolution of the matter.

Sino Africa acquired the 328-acre land in 2010 through two sublease agreements with the Nungua Stool. The company claims that it has enjoyed peaceful possession of the land until 2022, when Royal Bell Investments Limited began demolishing some of Sino Africa's structures.

The company filed an action in the Land Division of the High Court, but was unsuccessful. Sino Africa subsequently filed an appeal, and the Court of Appeal granted a stay of execution of the High Court's decision, ordering that the status quo be maintained.

Despite the court's directive, Sino Africa alleges that Royal Bell Investments Limited and Terraform Development Limited have continued to alter the character of the land, including unauthorized developments and the employment of security agents.

In response, Sino Africa filed a Penal Notice to warn the officials of Royal Bell Investments Limited and Terraform Development Ltd against continuing to take actions that amount to contempt of court. The company has assured that it will utilize every legitimate means to reclaim its 29-acre land.
