Helina Wins Next Gospel Star Season 5, Drives Away in New Toyota Vitz
Gospel singer Helena was overcome with emotion as she took her first ride in a brand-new Toyota Vitz saloon car, marking the culmination of her victory in Next Gospel Star Season 5. The grand finale, held on December 15, 2024, at the National Theatre, saw Helena emerge as the top winner, securing GHC 10,000, a recording contract, and the keys to her new car.
Helina's victory was the result of intense competition, as she triumphed over six other talented finalists: Elikem, Selby Ann, Doathess, Lady C, Millian, and Kofi Kodie. Despite their best efforts, Elikem and Doathess had to settle for second and third place, taking home GHC 7,000 and GHC 5,000, respectively. The win, however, didn’t come easily for Helina, as Elikem and Doathess also pushed hard for the first-place prize.
The evening featured a special performance by one of the judges, Dr. Alfred Addaquay, who entertained the crowd with his self-composed Christmas carols. Alongside him were fellow judges Dr. Ben Amakye Boateng and Chris Appau. During the event, Mr. Joe Osae, the organizer of the show, presented Helina with the key to her new car, congratulating the top three winners and acknowledging the strong performances of the remaining finalists, including Selby Ann, Lady C, Millian, and Kofi Kodie.
Mr. Osae, who is also the CEO of Ceejay Multimedia, expressed his gratitude to the Almighty God for guiding the production team through a challenging season. Despite the lack of significant sponsorship, the show managed to capture the hearts of many gospel music fans. He also emphasized the importance of unity within the Christian community to support initiatives like Next Gospel Star, which aims to unearth and nurture budding gospel talent.
As a reward for their achievements, Mr. Osae will accompany Helina, Elikem, and Doathess on a weekend trip to the Volta Hotel in Akosombo, courtesy of the hotel and Dodi World.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Osae thanked the production team, particularly Psalmone and Mabel Germain, as well as the show’s supporters, including Twellium Industrial Co. Ltd. (producers of Bigoo Drinks), Volta Hotel, Dodi World, Flora Joy, and the Akwaaba Festival 2025 organizing secretariat.
Looking ahead, Ceejay Multimedia is set to host the Akwaaba Festival from March 6 to March 8, 2025, at the National Theatre. The festival will celebrate Ghana’s cultural heritage and tourism over three exciting days.
