The 16-year-old son of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, Founder and General Overseer of Alive Chapel International Church, has been sentenced to six months at a senior correctional centre. This sentence follows his guilty plea to eight charges, including two counts of manslaughter, related to a tragic road accident in East Legon that resulted in the deaths of two preteens.

Initially, the teenager had declared untrue charges of murder, negligent harm, dangerous driving, and driving without a license. However, he later changed his plea to guilty, leading to his conviction. As part of his sentence, the court mandated that he report to probation officers every two weeks and sign an undertaking not to drive until he reaches 18.

Police prosecutors revealed that the teenager was showing off the speed of the Jaguar F-Pace Sport, owned by his parents when it collided with a black Acura carrying the victims. According to reports, the teenager drove the white Jaguar to A&C Mall with a friend, where they met up with more friends in two SUVs. The three vehicles formed a convoy, with the teenager leading in his mother's car while driving recklessly through East Legon.

During the court proceedings, the teenager initially pleaded not guilty to all charges and was remanded into custody, with special care instructions while in detention.

Bishop Salifu Amoako, his wife, Mouha Amoako, and sales assistant Linda Bonsu Prempeh were also arrested in connection with the incident. The Accra Circuit Court granted bail to both Bishop Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, each with a GH¢50,000 bond and two sureties. They were also ordered to cover the damages caused in the accident, including a GH¢8,000 light pole.

Linda Bonsu Prempeh, who allegedly provided the key to the vehicle involved, was granted bail under the same conditions. The three individuals faced charges of "permitting an unlicensed person to drive" and pleaded not guilty during their court appearance on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
