Ghanaian gospel artist Nicholas Omane Acheampong has hit back at popular radio presenter Captain Smart following recent criticisms. Captain Smart, on his show on Accra-based Onua TV, accused Omane Acheampong of corruption and accused him of bleaching his skin. He also threatened to “deal” with the artist after the December elections.
In response, Omane Acheampong rejected the accusations, asserting that Captain Smart had no power to harm him. “You can’t do anything to me. It’s an election, and Ghanaians have spoken. Although the results may not be in my favor, Ghana has won, and nothing will change in this country,” the gospel musician stated. He further accused Captain Smart of harboring personal animosity towards him and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which Omane Acheampong supports.
The gospel artist expressed frustration with the radio presenter’s persistent criticism, claiming that Captain Smart never acknowledges any positive achievements of the NPP government. Omane Acheampong also accused him of bias in his broadcasts, claiming that the presenter always finds fault with the ruling party, regardless of their accomplishments.
The exchange between Captain Smart and Omane Acheampong has fueled debates across social media. Some users have sided with the NPP chairman, while others are supporting the controversial radio personality. The ongoing public spat has generated considerable attention, with people taking to various platforms to share their views.
In a further challenge to Captain Smart, Omane Acheampong questioned the presenter’s own wealth. He dared Captain Smart to investigate his financial standing and expose any illicit sources of his wealth. “If Captain Smart thinks I am corrupt, he should investigate me and provide proof. I challenge him to reveal how I built my mansion and acquired other properties,” he said. Omane Acheampong also pointed out that Captain Smart, as a media presenter, would not earn enough to afford such luxury.
The gospel artist didn’t stop there, issuing a veiled warning to Captain Smart. “I know where your children go to school and where your parents live. Just pray nothing happens to me from today,” he added ominously.
This back-and-forth between the two public figures has stirred up controversy, with both parties seemingly unwilling to back down, leaving the public to continue the debate.
