Lilwin Claims Spending 15 Billion to Promote "A Country Called Ghana"
Actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has shed light on the significant investment he made in his movie, A Country Called Ghana. Known for his dedication to the entertainment industry, Lilwin revealed the staggering amount he spent on promoting the project to ensure its success.
In an interview with Kwame Tanko on Lawson FM, the actor detailed how much effort and resources went into making the movie a standout production. He disclosed that he spent between GHS 50,000 and GHS 100,000 on hiring Nigerian superstar actor Ramsey Nouah alone. However, his commitment to the movie didn’t end there.
Lilwin explained that after investing heavily in the production, he was determined to give the movie the visibility it deserved. To achieve this, he dedicated substantial resources to its promotion. According to the actor, he spent close to an old 15 billion cedis (before Ghana's redenomination in 2007) solely on promotional efforts.
This expenditure, he said, was necessary to ensure the movie gained the recognition it deserved, both locally and internationally. I had already invested so much into the production, Lilwin stated, so I couldn’t let it go unnoticed. I needed to push it further to make an impact.
Lilwin's revelation highlights the challenges and financial demands associated with producing high-quality movies in Ghana. It also underscores his passion and commitment to elevating the country's film industry. By investing not only in top-tier cast members like Ramsey Nouah but also in extensive promotional campaigns, Lilwin aims to set a new benchmark for Ghanaian movies.
The actor’s decision to invest such a substantial amount in promotion reflects his understanding of the importance of visibility in the entertainment industry. While the film's production costs were significant, Lilwin emphasized that the real challenge was ensuring the movie reached its intended audience.
His bold investment in A Country Called Ghana serves as a testament to his dedication to the growth of Ghana’s film industry. It also sets an example for other filmmakers to prioritize marketing and promotion as essential components of a movie’s success.
Through his efforts, Lilwin hopes to not only make a lasting impact on the local film scene but also to bring Ghanaian storytelling to the global stage.
