As the competition for the Ghana Premier League title rages on, Hearts of Oak skipper Benjamin Asare has urged his squad to move over their loss to Asante Kotoko.

On matchday 13 of the Ghana Premier League, the Porcupine Warriors defeated the Baba Yara Stadium 1-0, due to a goal from in-form forward Albert Amoah in stoppage time.

Following a mix-up in the back between Hearts' defender Kelvin Osei Asibey and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, the former Great Olympics striker came out on top, scoring far into injury time.

As they fight for the Premier League crown, Asare has urged his teammates to remain focused.

"Losing this important game hurts." As a goalie, this is my first loss to Asante Kotoko. A draw has always been my worst performance versus Kotoko. There is nothing we can do because we have lost. We must maintain our focus in the upcoming games because the season has not yet ended," he stated.

Hearts of Oak have 19 points from 13 games thus far, good for seventh place in the Ghana Premier League standings.

Since joining Hearts of Oak during the Great Olympics, Asare has excelled. During his 13 appearances, he has given up seven goals and kept seven clean sheets.

As the Black Galaxies prepare for Sunday's CAHN qualifier against Nigeria, the 32-year-old is now with the team.

The goal of Black Galaxies is to obtain CHAN qualification.

As Ghana prepares to play Nigeria in the first leg of their 2024 CHAN qualifier, Black Galaxies coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has emphasized his team's awareness of the enormous stakes involved.

The first of two legs that decide whether a side goes to the 2025 CHAN tournament, which will be held in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, is planned for Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium (16:00 GMT).

Dramani emphasized the team's commitment and cohesion in his remarks prior to the pivotal match.

We made every effort to establish a culture that would teach us to respect one another regardless of one another's backgrounds and to recognize that you are the best person in the nation. Therefore, everyone, including the playing body and the technical staff, is aware of the clear goals and stakes," he said.

Ghana hopes to earn consecutive CHAN berths for the first time since 2011 and 2014. The Black Galaxies made it to the finals in 2009 and 2014, but they have not won the CHAN title yet.

The team has been practicing hard during camp to provide a compelling argument against Nigeria, their longstanding adversary.
