Hearts of Oak defeated Berekum Chelsea 3-1 on Friday night at the University of Ghana Stadium, bouncing back from their heartbreaking loss to bitter rivals Asante Kotoko SC.

Following a two-game losing streak, the victory signaled the Phobians' return to form and rekindled their hopes of contending for the league crown.

at the squad that nearly lost to Kotoko, head coach Aboubakar Ouattara made some significant changes. He gave goalkeeper Sharif Shuaib his first start of the season instead of first-choice Benjamin Asare, who is now at the Ghana camp getting ready for the CHAN 2024 qualifier against Nigeria.

The starting lineup for the match against Chelsea also included Ahmed Ramzy Yussif and Ransford Mensah.

With his first goal for Hearts, Ahmed Ramzy Yussif broke the tie and gave the Rainbow club an early lead in the sixteenth minute.

Five minutes into the second half, striker Hamza Issah increased the lead, but Chelsea rallied with Emmanuel Sarpong, cutting the deficit in the 62nd minute.

In the 81st minute, substitute Kwabena Boateng scored a beautiful goal to give Hearts the victory despite Chelsea's best attempts.

The outcome puts the Phobians back in the running for the championship.
