Months ago, a scandal erupted in Equatorial Guinea when explicit videos featuring a high-ranking civil servant, Baltasar, surfaced online, sparking public outrage. The videos, which depicted Baltasar in compromising positions with several women, including the wives of prominent officials, went viral across social media platforms. This scandal raised serious concerns regarding public morality and the conduct of civil servants, prompting the government to take immediate action to address the situation and curb the spread of the footage.

In response to the controversy, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, the country’s Vice President, took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce a swift suspension of all civil servants involved in such activities. He condemned engaging in sexual acts in government offices as a clear violation of both the civil service code of conduct and the nation’s public ethics law. His statement was a strong attempt to restore order and send a message that the government was taking the matter seriously as an issue of national importance.

Following the vice president’s announcement, Baltasar was arrested, but no formal charges were filed against him. He was later released after a court ruling determined that all the women involved had consented to the actions shown in the videos. Despite the legal ruling, the scandal continued to tarnish Baltasar’s reputation, leaving a cloud over his career.

Just weeks after his release, Baltasar once again became a focal point of controversy when another explicit video surfaced. This new footage, which showed him engaged in a sexual encounter with a woman who appeared to be married, quickly gained traction online. The renewed public outrage reignited discussions about his behavior and the failure of government measures to prevent such incidents. The video's rapid circulation raised fresh questions about the effectiveness of the government's actions in curbing these scandals.

The ongoing circulation of explicit videos has not only damaged Baltasar’s personal reputation but has also sparked a wider debate in Equatorial Guinea about ethics, privacy, and the accountability of public servants. The scandal highlights the tension between personal freedom and the moral expectations placed on public figures, with the country’s leadership struggling to balance political control and ethical governance. This ongoing issue underscores the challenges faced by the government in regulating the conduct of public officials while maintaining national integrity.
