Gospel singer Helina was filled with emotion as she received her grand prize after being crowned the winner of Next Gospel Star Season 5. The highly anticipated finale, held on December 15, 2024, at the National Theatre, saw Helina claim the top spot in a highly competitive contest. Her victory earned her a GHC 10,000 cash prize, a recording contract, and the keys to a brand-new Toyota Vitz saloon car, marking a significant milestone in her musical journey.
Helina triumphed over six other talented finalists: Elikem, Selby Ann, Doathess, Lady C, Millian, and Kofi Kodie. Elikem and Doathess, who put up strong performances, secured second and third place, winning GHC 7,000 and GHC 5,000, respectively. Although Helina’s victory was hard-won, with fierce competition from the other finalists, her remarkable vocal ability and stage presence ultimately set her apart.
The event was further highlighted by a special performance from one of the judges, Dr. Alfred Addaquay, who delighted the audience with his original Christmas carols. He was joined by fellow judges Dr. Ben Amakye Boateng and Chris Appau, whose expertise helped guide the contestants throughout the season. During the ceremony, the organizer of the show, Mr. Joe Osae, also presented Helina with the keys to her new car, congratulating her and the other top finalists for their exceptional performances.
Mr. Osae, who is the CEO of Ceejay Multimedia, expressed his gratitude to God for the success of the show despite the challenges of limited sponsorship. He highlighted the importance of unity within the Christian community to support initiatives like Next Gospel Star, which aims to discover and nurture gospel talent. He also acknowledged the support from various partners, including Twellium Industrial Co. Ltd., Volta Hotel, Dodi World, Flora Joy, and the Akwaaba Festival 2025 organizing secretariat.
As part of their reward, Mr. Osae announced that Helina, Elikem, and Doathess would enjoy a weekend getaway to the Volta Hotel in Akosombo, courtesy of the hotel and Dodi World.
Looking ahead, Ceejay Multimedia is preparing for the Akwaaba Festival, which will take place from March 6 to March 8, 2025, at the National Theatre. The festival will celebrate Ghana’s cultural heritage and tourism, offering three days of exciting events.
