Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, also known as Mama G, recently shared a deeply personal account of her journey to stardom, revealing the difficult struggles she faced to support her family before achieving success in the entertainment industry.
During a pre-premiere dinner for Funke Akindele’s much-anticipated movie Everybody Loves Jenifa, Mama G reflected on the sacrifices she made and the various jobs she took on to ensure her children had a better life. She also used the occasion to praise Funke Akindele, describing her as a strong, hardworking woman—a quality Mama G deeply admires.
"Funke Akindele is a very strong woman. I love strong women because I am one myself," Mama G said. "When I look at Funke, I see a reflection of myself. She’s relentless, hardworking, and determined to make an impact, just like I have been throughout my life."
The iconic actress then shared some of the more difficult aspects of her life before finding fame, revealing the unconventional jobs she took to provide for her children. She disclosed one particularly poignant memory: “I used to go to the morgue to dress dead bodies so my children could go to school and have food to eat,” she said. “I did so many things—things most people wouldn’t even consider—to ensure my family could survive and thrive. My children’s education and well-being were my top priorities, and I was ready to do whatever it took to give them a better future.”
Mama G’s story is one of resilience and determination.
